“The Favourite” Leads BAFTA Nominations

thesfnews:

HOLLYWOOD—Things are still happening in the world of entertainment, with the nominees for the 2019 British Academy of Film and Television Arts were unveiled on Wednesday, January 9. Leading all films was the comedy “The Favourite” with a total of 12 nominations including Best Film. “A Star is Born,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “First Man” and “Roma” each picked up seven nominations.

However, there were some major surprises along the way. “Black Panther” which has been generating all types of Oscar buzz was snubbed in the Best Film category, as was Barry Jenkins’ “If Beale Street Could Talk.” The nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress are intriguing because it makes certain in my opinion that when the Academy Award nominations are unveiled on January 22, there will be some surprises, some that might leave people floored to say the least. You mean you won’t kill anyone?
No. I mean, I’m sure I would, just like anybody else when the time came… I just keep wishing I could think of a way to show them that they don’t own me.
